Even though I usually write about book publishing, I also creates and publish games, so it seems a good time to talk a
little bit about that. Also, sometimes it's good to have ancillary
products that go with your books, which is the point behind some games coming
out for Relic Worlds, including The Lost Worlds, which is due out later this
year. (Probably October.)
I first tried to go with Victory Point
Games, which is a group of people I admire and enjoy. They also asked me
to work with them, so I did. After more than a hundred hours of working
with them, developing three games and testing others of theirs with them, they
flaked out on me, even acted like I hadn't been working with them for a while,
and it all fell apart.
So I'm developing it myself and am
producing it through an independent printing site, and will be distributing it
through Dice Game Depot.
Here are the sites I'm deciding between:
Superior POD
The Game Crafter
The Game Crafter is more expensive, but
they also distribute it on their site. Superior POD is less expensive,
but do not distribute, although they are working on something for that.
I'm going with Superior POD because my
pieces make the game too expensive with The Game Crafter. However, their
distribution center makes it attractive for future games.
